Jack Rasmussen
This year’s show judge is Jack Rasmussen, who has been Director and Curator of the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center, Washington, DC since it opened in 2005.
A native of Seattle, Rasmussen moved to the DC area in 1973 and completed an MFA in Painting, MA in Arts Management, and MA and PhD in Anthropology at American University. He worked for the Education Department of the National Gallery of Art before becoming Assistant Director of the Washington Project for the Arts when it opened in 1975. He left this position to run the Jack Rasmussen Gallery from 1978 to 1983, and since then has directed Rockville Arts Place (VisArts), Maryland Art Place, and di Rosa, a contemporary art museum and sculpture garden in Napa, California. Rasmussen is past President of the Maryland State Arts Council and the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums.
